VETERINARY NURSE

Ever since Emma was really young, she always had a passion for caring for animals. As a kid she would only have animal toys, no dolls or cars for her! When she was old enough to work, she started out in a pet shop, which provided her with knowledge on dog and cat enrichment, diet and behaviour.

Emma has been working in the industry since 2020 and around mid 2022, completed her Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing. She enjoys the medical treatment side of nursing along with monitoring patients during dental and routine surgical procedures. One of her favourite things to do is to provide comfort to an animal when they are waking up from a procedure. This can be a vulnerable time so Emma provides as much comfort as well as a calming experience for all the patients in her care. Her aim is for them to be stress free during their time in the hospital.

Apart from her work life Emma loves a good hike or walk in nature, along with spending time with her pets. She has a few different pets to love and care for, all of whom keep her very busy but she wouldn’t change any of it! She has lived with pets her entire life and they have contributed to so many of her animal loving traits that now thankfully play a significant role in her career as a vet nurse.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be a Vet!

What’s your idea of a perfect long weekend getaway?

Somewhere in the mountains hiking most of the day.

Which language(s) do you speak?

English

Are you a pet owner? What do you have?

Yes I have 3 dogs, 4 cats, a snake and a horse.

What’s your favourite season and why?

Winter because I prefer the cold and I love snow.

What is your favourite food of all time?

Potatoes in pretty much any form.

How do you like to relax and unwind after your workday?

Watch some YouTube videos while cuddling my cat and dog with a cup of tea.

If you could have dinner with anybody in the world from across history, who would it be and why?

David Attenborough as I think it would be amazing to listen to his stories. I also love his admiration of animals and the earth itself.

Alive or passed—and money no issue—which musician would you love to see perform live?

Queen

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

Teleportation so I can travel to different countries with ease.

What is your proudest achievement?

Hiking the Snowdon mountain alone in Wales, UK.
